A Student Health Protocol Behavior in COVID-19 Preventive Efforts at Syiah Kuala University

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has attracted international attention. WHO data on January 25, 2020, there were 113,053,765 confirmed cases globally with 2,506,006 cases of death. Behavioral health protocols need to be in place to prevent this situation. Health protocol behavior can be carried out optimally if it is accompanied by good knowledge and attitude. In this case, Unsyiah students are actively involved in following the development of current health problems. The research objective was to describe the health protocol behavior of the students. The research method is a descriptive study. The research subjects were 165 Unsyiah students in 2020. Retrieval of data via e-questionnaire in the form of a google form that has been validated from 7 August to 7 September 2020. The analysis used the univariate test. The results showed that the majority of students carried out health protocol behaviors such as maintaining distance from elderly people (89%), avoiding bringing children to crowded places (67%), using masks when in crowds (78%), using private vehicles to go to another place (93%), stay at home unless there is an important business (95%), do not have physical contact with other people (96%), do not attend events that gather large numbers of people (90%), do not travel outside the region (59%), and did not eat in public (63%). The conclusion of this study is that the majority of students at Unsyiah carry out health protocol behaviors such as maintaining distance from elderly people, avoiding bringing children to crowded places, using masks when in crowds, using private vehicles to go to other places, staying at home unless have important business, do not make physical contact with other people, do not attend events that gather large numbers of people, do not travel outside the area, and do not eat in public places.
